Dave Piesing recognised for services to cricket
One of the highlights of the evening was the presentation of the Alan Hamilton Memorial Trophy for Services to Cricket to Dave Piesing, recognising his exceptional contribution to Guernsey and Channel Islands cricket over several decades.
Dave has served the game in an extraordinary variety of capacities, including as a player, official, manager and Board member, and has been a passionate supporter and driving force behind Guernsey cricket for many years.
His contribution has extended well beyond the island. He has played an important role in Channel Islands cricket, including helping to sustain the CI Over-50s programme and taking a leading role in the reintroduction of the CI League.
He was also instrumental in Guernsey’s development within international cricket and the island’s progression to ICC membership, helping to create opportunities for Guernsey players to compete on the international stage.
Tributes from across the Channel Islands cricket community were shared during the presentation, reflecting the enormous impact Dave has made on the sport.
Guernsey Cricket COO Richard Headington said:
“Dave has contributed to cricket in just about every possible capacity, as player, official, manager, Board member and, above all, one of the game’s most enthusiastic and committed supporters.
“More than 30 years after I first met Dave, his enthusiasm for cricket remains completely undiminished. This award is thoroughly deserved and a very fitting recognition of everything he has given, and continues to give, to Guernsey and Channel Islands cricket.”
An evening to remember
The evening also featured plenty of humour and entertainment, with Mark Williams providing some memorable magic and Tony Curr acting as compere.
Guernsey Cricket would like to thank Jamie Nussbaumer and the team at Cobo Bay Hotel for their hospitality, together with the members of the Domestic Cricket Committee who organised the event.
Thanks also go to Guernsey Cricket’s sponsors and partners for their continued support, to everyone who attended and contributed to the evening, and to Olly Tracey from On Screen Creations for capturing the presentations and atmosphere.
The Annual Awards Dinner provided a fitting celebration of the 2026 season and of the players, coaches, officials, volunteers, sponsors and supporters who continue to contribute to the development and success of cricket in Guernsey.
