Special Guests Celebrate Junior Cricket
Guernsey Cricket was delighted to welcome John Greenfield of Mourant and Lisa Le Huray of Apogee as special guests at the presentation evening. Both addressed those attending, offering inspirational and encouraging words to the young players before helping to present the awards.
Mourant is the title sponsor of Guernsey Cricket’s Junior Leagues, while Apogee supports the development of the island’s Under 15 Girls programme.
Their involvement reflects the important contribution made by local businesses in providing opportunities for young people to participate in cricket, develop their abilities and progress through the representative pathway.
Guernsey Cricket extends its sincere thanks to John and Lisa for their attendance, encouragement and continued support.
Celebrating Participation, Teamwork and Enjoyment
While the awards recognised some exceptional individual performances, the evening was also an opportunity to celebrate every young cricketer who contributed to the 2026 season.
Throughout the year, junior players have demonstrated enthusiasm, commitment and a willingness to learn, whether participating in domestic competitions, attending coaching sessions or representing Guernsey. Beyond individual performances, cricket provides valuable opportunities to develop friendships, confidence, teamwork, resilience and respect for others.
Guernsey Cricket recognises that the success of its junior programmes depends on the considerable contribution of coaches, team managers, volunteers, clubs and parents, who give their time and energy to support the next generation.
Guernsey Cricket also wishes to thank its sponsors and commercial partners, whose continued investment helps make junior cricket accessible and provides opportunities for young players to enjoy and develop within the sport.
A special thank you also goes to 19 Bar & Grill for hosting the awards evening and providing the perfect venue for celebrating the achievements of our young cricketers.
Looking Ahead to Guernsey Cricket’s Centenary in 2027
The awards evening also provided an encouraging reminder of the bright future of cricket in Guernsey as the organisation prepares to celebrate its centenary in 2027.
Developing junior cricket and widening opportunities for participation will remain central to Guernsey Cricket’s ambitions during this landmark year and beyond.
The organisation is committed to strengthening the pathway from introductory cricket through domestic competitions and representative age-group teams, ensuring that young people from across the island have opportunities to discover the game and fulfil their potential.
Some of today’s junior players may go on to represent Guernsey at senior international level, while others will continue to enjoy the sport through club cricket, coaching, officiating or volunteering.
Whatever their future involvement, Guernsey Cricket’s priority is to ensure that their experiences are positive, rewarding and memorable.
The enthusiasm and achievements celebrated at this year’s awards evening provide every reason to be optimistic about the next generation of Guernsey cricketers.
