Celebrating tradition. Creating opportunities. Bringing cricketers together.
Play Different. Think Different. Mavericks.
Welcome to the Guernsey Mavericks

The Guernsey Mavericks Cricket Club is an exciting initiative from Guernsey Cricket, bringing
together the rich heritage of island cricket with a fresh, inclusive and ambitious approach to the
game.

Inspired by the traditions of the former Guernsey Island Cricket Club (GICC), the Mavericks have
been established to provide more opportunities for people to enjoy cricket, play for their island in a social capacity, develop friendships and experience everything that makes the sport so special.

The Mavericks are about much more than winning matches. They are about sportsmanship,
camaraderie, tradition, participation and a shared love of cricket.

Whether you are an experienced player, a developing young cricketer, a former representative
player or someone who simply wants to enjoy competitive and sociable cricket, the Mavericks aim to provide opportunities for you to get involved.

Our Vision – Cricket for Everyone
At the heart of the Mavericks is a simple ambition: to bring more people together through cricket.

We believe there should be opportunities to enjoy the game beyond the traditional domestic
competitions and national representative pathways.

The Mavericks aim to bridge that gap, offering a flexible and welcoming cricket environment for
players of different ages, abilities and backgrounds.

Our programme will provide opportunities for:
Emerging players – providing additional competitive cricket and opportunities for
development.
Over 35s, Over 45s and Over 55s – keeping experienced players involved and enjoying the
game.
Recreational and social cricketers – creating opportunities for those who enjoy playing
without the demands of a full competitive season.
Touring and visiting teams – welcoming cricketers to Guernsey and showcasing our island’s
outstanding cricket facilities and hospitality.

The Mavericks are intended to complement, rather than compete with, Guernsey’s established clubs and competitions.

Proud of Our Heritage
The Mavericks take inspiration from the former Guernsey Island Cricket Club, celebrating the
traditions and values that have helped make cricket such an important part of island life.
We want to revive the spirit of traditional cricket, where the enjoyment of the game extends beyond the boundary.

Our distinctive green and gold identity, club crest, traditional playing attire and aspirations for club blazers and ties reflect our commitment to creating a club with character, pride and a lasting identity.

We believe that good cricket, good sportsmanship and good company should always go hand in
hand.

An Exciting 2027 Season
The 2027 season promises to be a particularly exciting one for the Mavericks, coinciding with the centenary of organised cricket in Guernsey.

As Guernsey Cricket celebrates 100 years since the formation of the Guernsey Cricket Association in 1927, the Mavericks will play an important role in our ambition to make the centenary a season-long festival of cricket.

Our developing fixture programme includes opportunities to play visiting touring teams, traditional opponents and other representative and community sides.

Matches will be organised to suit different player groups and levels of experience, allowing as many people as possible to participate.

The Mavericks will also help strengthen Guernsey’s reputation as a welcoming destination for
touring cricket teams, making the most of our excellent grounds, beautiful island setting and
longstanding cricketing traditions.

2027 Fixtures
Our proposed 2027 fixture programme is being developed, with further details and opportunities for players to express an interest in individual matches to be announced.

Fixtures and team selections will be subject to confirmation, with opportunities allocated according to the nature and level of each match.
